It’s when the Madison Flickr group gets together for drinks and talks photography. It’s a great way to meet new people, other photographers and to teach and learn. Today it’s going to be about -8 so most shooting will be done inside (hopefully). This time we’re heading to the Weary Traveler on Willy street in Madison. The Weary is a great cozy little place and perfect for a cold day like today.

What a great day for the United States. We’re finally getting rid of our worst President ever, George W. Bush, and then swearing in what’s hopefully our greatest President ever, Barack Obama. I wish I could take our family there so our little girl could say she was there but she’s just too small at this point. I’m confident everything will go as planned and we can get started in fixing this country. The past 8 years have just about killed it.

I’ve made the switch over to a new host and I now have lots of functionality, hence the new layout.  Hope you like it!

Update: I love having all this new functionality. Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal… I don’t even have time to learn it all. It’s super simple to switch themes/templates and to setup new subdomains.

I chose to stick with Wordpress for now since I found the most templates available compared to Joomla. I just couldn’t find anything decent for Joomla but will continue to keep an eye out. I’d also like to look at Drupal but that’s for another day.

So last week, right before the election, I had a chance to shoot a model at the capitol in Madison. My Flickr group got together and we all chipped in for someone we could shoot. Unfortunately I only got to shoot a few frames of her. It ended up conflicting with my election training since the models were late. Surprisingly, I did get a few usable shots of her. Looks like we’ll be doing this again soon if we can find some studio space. Let me know what you think.

This was taken with my new Canon 50mm F1.4 lens. I’m loving it. I really wished I had a decent zoom on this day but I think the results were good. I’ve made things work for this long without one
